Guatemala is Central America’s hidden treasure. See the volcanoes of Lake Atitlán, the quaint colonial city of Antigua, and the ancient Mayan ruins while forging lasting friendships with new local friends who will feel like family.

As a global organization educating on the harms of porn, Fight the New Drug is constantly working to expand their resources and continually spread this movement across the globe. In 2019 FTND has committed to releasing more resources in Spanish, including our documentary series Brain, Heart, World, They have also begun certifying a presenter who can educate on the harms of porn in Guatemala. Join us in Guatemala as we volunteer with local groups, release new educational resources in Spanish, raise awareness, and spread this movement for love!

DAY 1

ARRIVE IN GUATEMALA  

You will be welcomed by your trip manager at the airport and directed to the hotel. Once you arrive, you will be able to settle into your hotel, meet the other travelers, and get introduced to Fight The New Drug.

DAY 4

BOAT TOUR OF LAKE ATITLAN

Full day boat trip through the most beautiful lake in Guatemala and arguably the world, Lake Atitlán's landscape is surrounded by three Volcanoes: Atitlán, Toliman and San Pedro. You will visit two local villages and get to experience glass blowing and how traditional clothing is made.

DAY 7

ANTIGUA & FTND COMMUNITY EVENT

You will be able to explore Antigua, renowned for its Spanish colonial buildings and local food. You will be a part of a community event focused on human trafficking and the effects of pornography, with over 500 locals in attendance hosted by FTND.

DAY 2

GUATE

EQUINOS

We will spend our day with professionals from Guate Equinos, Covenant House, local law enforcement and government officials who work directly with individuals who have been trafficked. You will then take a city tour of Antigua.

DAY 5

TRANSFER TO TIKAL

You will have the opportunity to spend the morning at the lake exploring local markets and food. We will then transfer to Tikal, an ancient Mayan citadel in the rainforests of northern Guatemala.

It's not goodbye rather, see you later! You won't soon forget your time in Guatemala and the impact you've made spreading FTND's movement for love. But it doesn't end here, you can continue to share your experience on this trip and help change the conversation about porn's harms! 

DAY 3

LAKE

ATITLAN

You will transfer to Lake Atitlan and visit the town of Santa Catarina Palopó, which is characterized by its multi-colored outfits and unique culture to the region. Fight The New Drug will present an informational session regarding human trafficking and the effects of pornography. 

DAY 6

TIKAL MAYAN RUINS

Tikal is an ancient Mayan citadel in the rainforests of northern Guatemala. Be prepared for a sunrise tour on the largest temple in the National Park, followed by a guided tour of the remaining temples.

This organization is a non-religious and non-legislative, nonprofit that exists to provide individuals the opportunity to make an informed decision regarding pornography by raising awareness on its harmful effects using only science, facts, and personal accounts. A: We will provide a converter/transformer guide in your welcome packet once you’ve been accepted to attend the expedition.

Q: WHAT KIND OF CONVERTER OR TRANSFORMER WILL I NEED IN GUATEMALA?

A: Yes. A list of required vaccinations and medications will be provided once you’ve been accepted to attend the expedition.

Q: WILL I NEED TO GET VACCINATED IN ORDER TO GO ON THE TRIP?

A: No, this trip is open to all. There will be diverse beliefs among your fellow volunteers, guides, and local residents. There is an option to attend a local Christian church on the first Sunday of the expedition. All we ask is that you maintain a respectful attitude.  We also ask you to refrain from drugs, alcohol, and using profane language.

Q: IS THIS A RELIGIOUS TRIP?

A: No, you do not need a passport to apply.However, we recommend you apply for a passport immediately after you are accepted. You will need it in-hand before we depart, and it may be necessary to secure your flights.

Q: DO I NEED A PASSPORT TO APPLY FOR THIS EXPEDITION?

A: Unfortunately no. The down payment securing your spot on the trip is non-refundable in order to ensure all accommodation, transport, travel rates are secured before the expedition.

Q: IF SOMETHING COMES UP AND I AM NO LONGER ABLE TO GO, MAY I HAVE MY DOWN PAYMENT REFUNDED?

A: You are required to submit your deposit and complete the application form when signing up for each trip.

A: We coordinate in-person service by partnering with local organizations that make a difference. By promoting the service on social media, the trip has the potential to inspire countless others into service as well. .Finally, tourism is a known benefit to the economies of the countries we visit, and the online content from the trip will encourage even more tourism.

Q: HOW WILL MY TRIP MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

A: You must be 16 years or older to participate in a trip alone or have your legal guardian accompany you on the trip. If you are younger than 18, your legal guardian must sign all documents required to travel with Influence Trips. 

Q: HOW OLD MUST I BE TO PARTICIPATE IN A TRIP?

A:No. Our trips are focused primarily on tourism and the benefits received from tourism to the host country.  

Q: DO I HAVE TO RAISE A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR THE CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION TO GO ON THE TRIP?

A: No. The cost of the trip includes most meals, hotels, in-country transportation, and fun excursions.
